I want to backpack

I have been working under my wife's direction to clean up our basement ;-) . To that end I have taken it on myself to shed a couple of pieces of gear who's point was only to have for sentimental reasons.
The one recent big piece was my old MountainSmith backpack that I have had since the 80's. I think it was the 72 L model. I bought it for hard winter trips but it became my main and only pack for years. Like 30+ years of use but it had become somewhat threadbare and the strap and waistbelt foam turned to black dust recently. I have no idea how many trail nights this pack saw.
So I decided to strip the pack of all the buckles and the brand patches. Possibly for repair but mostly as a way to remember the pack in a smaller and neater size. I kept the yellow zipper pulls since they were classic to this period of MountainSmith. As I did this I was definitely struck by the fact that they don't make them like this anymore but for very good reason. Below is a picture of the parts on the scale. The scale was zero'd for the bowl so that is just the parts weight. 325g/11.5 oz is a lot of plastic weight.

Yeah, I’ve lost serious weight with every pack I’ve bought since the ealry 90s (THAT one weighed a ton, but was sooooo much better built and structured than the cheap bag I’d been hauling that it was a joy).

I wish my parents had done this with all their old Kelty gear from the 70s.
