finance.yahoo.com/news/following-doctor-led-protest-petition-162200200.htmlI whole heartedly agree that I doubt BK serves anything that is actually healthy. But maybe you can buy apple slices... I don't know since I rarely go to such places. And I support a hospital to only have within it that goes along with their mission. However, what I do worry about is developing "food police". A good example is NY limiting the size of soda(pop). I support and believe in a plant based diet but I do not go around telling other people what they should eat or not eat. If they ask, then fine I'll give them my input. But now I'm waiting for the day that when a person gets new health insurance they will be asked how much sugar they consume or how often they potato chips and their rate will be based on that.

I believe our schools should not have soft drinks for sale, nor any fast food outlets within their buildings. Hospitals should also only offer food of some value. I commend this NJ Dr and the hospital. A good example is NY limiting the size of soda(pop). As for this, I see no harm in limiting exposure to harmful things. We control what age is appropriate for buying alcohol and tobacco. Why not limit the size of sugary drinks? Want more, buy more than one. Some places sell half gallon cups for cryin' out loud! I'd say 20 ounces of a sugary drink was more than enough. While we're at it, let's cut back all burgers over 1/4 pound. Double Whopper? Nope. Wendy's triple? Nope. Cut back on the size of the serving of plenty of things. America needs to come to grips with the obesity problem.

As for this, I see no harm in limiting exposure to harmful things. We control what age is appropriate for buying alcohol and tobacco. I see a big difference between eating too much sugar and drinking too much alcohol. Eating too much sugar only hurts you it doesn't kill someone else because you swerved over the yellow line in the road. When it comes to tabacco it's the 2nd hand smoke that is the issue not that you're harming yourself. How far are we willing to intrude into the lives of others? I know this might seem a bit extreme but are we also willing to mandate exercise? That would also cut back on our obesity and other problems. I don't want to assume so I'm wondering if should we limit soda bottle size in the grocery stores to 12oz and get rid of all 1 & 2 liter sizes? I'm being half serious and half facetious with my questions because I'm wondering where the line is drawn. I fully acknowledge that most of our biggest health issues at least in the US are lifestyle and diet induced and that by living a healthier lifestyle we'd cut back billions in medication, hospitalization, and insurance costs. However, I'm unwilling to dictate people's food choices and how much they shove in their mouths.

Oh, I'm more than willing to decide for others what they should do. What food to consume. What car to drive. How much exercise to be had daily, or at least 4 times a week.
Is that practical? NO. But I am willing to make some changes for the betterment of society as a whole. Yes, remove all of the 2L bottles of drinks. Remove the 1L ones from convenience store refrigerators. 20 ounces would be the largest size.

To the good doctor:
Oh please. Have you seen hospital meals? I wouldn't feed them to my dog.
