The Lost Creek Wilderness Loop was great fun. Here is our report:
Way more beautiful than I expected! We went CCW over 3 days/2 nights, June 19-21. The only crowds we saw were mosquitoes, but a head net and some Picaridin fixed that issue. Note that the permit boxes are not located right at the parking lot, but a little ways into the hike. Day 1 was the beautiful vistas of Bison Peak & McCurdy Peak. We camped at the 10-11 mile mark - plenty of water and campsites. Day 2 was just as lovely, with tree/valley/cool rock vistas - also tons of blooming wild roses. Crossing Lost Creek on the log was easy enough, although I was thankful I had trekking poles to assist with balance across the log (I'd read reports about a rope across the log to help with balance, but that appeared to be broken/missing). One person in our party chose to wade the river instead of using the log and it was just a little bit above the knees. We again camped at the 10-11 mile mark, just after the Wigwam Trail intersection - plenty of water. Day 3 was huge, beautiful meadows and a couple of bull moose. Three independent Apple watches recorded the mileage as closer to 32 miles.
