I might have to check out the Tropic Comfort. But I do run hot, so being able to adjust how buttoned-up I am is important. I want a loose-fitting shirt, and usually go with the more “cottony” fabrics (in the desert, it might even be actual cotton).

At the opposite end of the scale, MidAtlantic summers are miserably humid. Back when the Brits were running the colonies, they actually put in for Tropical pay because it just gets sopping.
I find cotton very uncomfortable in summer, and for hiking and work wear fast drying synthetic shirts and pants. Carhartt of all people has some great fast drying vented shirts that I use for both. And they aren't anywhere near 70 bucks.

@va3pinner, that’s why I don’t visit the east in the summer.😄

Those shirts are $50-55, which I would probably NOT describe as "nowhere near $70." (They look nice, BTW: I have a couple similar short-sleeve vented shirts that I wear a lot in the summer--it's very hot and fairly humid in the summer here. I generally prefer looser-fitting button-up shirts to t-shirts in that kind of weather.) I guess for me the barrier is more mental than purely financial. I can afford to spend $50-70 on a shirt, I suppose, but I don't, except for specialized hiking clothes (which I make last a long time). As far as "regular" clothes, I'm not sure you'd find a single shirt in my closet that cost $50 or more.

I buy those for work, and beat the daylights out of them. they hold up really well and the fabric works well given the conditions I wear them in.
