I'm looking to pick up 2 or 3 merino t-shirts that will mostly not be for BPing: they'll be for daily layering in cooler weather, use on short hikes etc around home, and maybe BPing if I think they can be an improvement on something I'm currently carrying.
Ideally, they'll fit like a t-shirt, as opposed to the more "shrink-wrapped" fit of dedicated baselayers and tech tees. I don't think anyone needs or wants to see every detail of my dad bod through my t-shirt.
Minus33 has a 170-weight 100% merino and a 145-weight 85% merino blend that look like good options. They're stupid expensive, of course, but not quite as stupid expensive as Icebreaker, et al. Still, this would be a crazy indulgent purchase compared to my usual clothing buying habits, so I want to get it right.
Any thoughts or experiences?

I do not, but have heard good things about them. I'm a die hard merino fan, but as prices start entering the stratosphere, I'm looking more at surplus ECWCS fleece.
Just deleted a link I put in this post, did not realize the product was polyester, not merino. Sorry about that

God bless youth and fitness. That ship sailed for me, too. Interested in what you find for a "relaxed fit" .

the only 33 gear i have is (2) neck gaiters (or whatever they're called). the ones i have are good fitting & warm. i had to send back/ have replaced one of them (Amazon) because the label (mfg & instruction - not logo) was sewn so it pinched the hem and created a tight squeeze at that point.
i would not hesitate to purchase again.
btw: i'm 5'6" ( & shrinking), 170# on a good day, and buy XL of everything. sleeves & legs don't become an issue if they're a bit long, but i always end up having the body length shortened - (thank you Roanne @ Alterations Plus).
seems like XL in the hiking & biking world means over 6'3" tall and 120#.
don't get me started on "skinny suits" . . . . same guy that designs women's shoes must have a night job doing men's fashions!

Oh, tomqvaxy, don’t get any of us women started on trying to find clothes that fit! Wish I had my grandma’s seamstress skills, because the only way anything will ever truly fit is custom made.

Hmmm. Shoes fit comfortably right out of the box, or maybe I just have feet that don't hurt usually. Same with most clothing items, as in XL fits just fine, with me at 6'1" and 205#s. As for the merino line, never saw much use for anything but the socks and even now I have swapped over to Darn Tough.
