Oh, yeah, I should tell y'all that I often take shots of flora & fauna in an area, just to let folks know what's out there. This SW area of the Stronghold doesn't have the more densely-forested canyons and riparian woodlands found in other areas, but there's still flora to be found, as you'll see in upcoming shots. Beautiful flora, considering that we're in the high desert, lol. Meh, let's carry on with our hike in perfect weather... I saw NOBODY on this hike, but afterward I noted folks moving into the area to bag primitive campsites for what will certainly be a glorious weekend out there, with a fine weather forecast drawing outdoorsmen (and women) to this scenic area of AZ. Ya know, this cheesy Canon camera of mine often flattens out terrain, making a crag or dome hundreds of feet high look like a large boulder or whatever, pfffffft. I know there are ways to tweak the camera to improve images, but I'm an old rogue dinosaur who hates learning new devices... I am NOT the guy who needs a new smart phone every time one comes out, aye? In fact, I'm still on a flip-phone, if THAT tells ya anything... and I'm on it by choice, lol. There's always the laptop for dealing with the web. Anyway, lemme post these pics and carry on, we have some nice photos ahead, cheesy Canon cam or no cheesy Canon cam. Say that five times fast, lol... Cheers!!!

Lots of stunning and dramatic photos, especially the second group with the multiple contrasts.
Thanks for sharing.

A friend of mine that lives outside of Woodland Park, CO had an amazing Baja Bug he built and tricked out. Later put a porsche engine in a VW bus. Those things were pretty amazing.
Really enjoyed the photos. I was there about 35 years ago and enjoyed it. Somewhere on facebook today I saw someone looking for climbing partners near the Stronghold. Thanks for the post and I'll try and do some more sharing here too. Out of quarantine Monday!

I like the photos of the old tractors, and the subsiding VW. That surprises me a bit as I would have thought the ground would be much firmer and fairly impenetrable.
