What is the best way to clean the insides of gore-tex boots? In the past I have just used plain water. I fill them up, and dump them out a few times. Is there a chemicle that is safe to use? Maybe some of that Tech Wash, or just baking soda? How is everyone else keeping their gore-tex funk free?

Just another reason to hate Gore-Tex. It keeps water out, but keeps water in as well.
But, no, I see the odor (from the Latin "odor", meaning "scent or smell") and funk to be a good thing, announcing in no uncertain terms that 'hey, these are MY shoes - hands off!' Take them off and, after they dry out, put them back on again. The important thing is your foot, not the shoe or its lining.

something that has been a big help to me to prevent odors is a good boot dryer. I wear leather safety toe work boots. About 10 years ago I purchased a Peet boot dryer. Never had a problem with odors. I use them on my GTex hiking boots as well. Along with a good washing inside and out after a trek. Boots will dry overnight on the dryers.
