This was my first hiking trip after severely dislocating and breaking my left ankle in early August. Not fully recovered yet, but I've been chomping at the bit so I drove the 5-1/2 hours down to Garden of the Gods for some low mileage hiking with a high scenery factor (for Illinois). Spent the first night at the Pharaoh car campground, and night two in the GotG Wilderness before driving home on day three.
After the drive down I hiked the Indian Point Trail (less than two miles), pics below:
If you look closely at this next pic you might see a bearded man with a large moustache and a hat just above and slightly to the right of the center:
The next morning (my one full day) started out with the very popular (and short) Observation Trail:
