ErnieWUberLite Noise...not at all. I noticed a wee bit of squeaks the first few nights on the NeoAir Lite and then none.

Second UberLite Field Test: Grand Canyon, AZ 5 nights, 6 days That's good to know. I cowboy camped in the Grand Canyon with an XLite and felt like I was pushing it, but with a tyvek groundsheet I'd feel safe. The only leak my XLite has had was a from a cactus spine, with a silnylon tent and no groundsheet. It was a slow enough leak that I didn't repair it until I got home. It's held up for several years. I might try an UberLite for use in favorable temps.

I like Westy's spread sheet approach to old and new / ounces and dollars. I think were I to do that I'd have a similar dollar total. Heck, we all have a hobby, I guess mine is shaving ounces at an exorbitant rate I just bought a Western Mountaineering Summerlite. Got in on sale 25% off which is a rare thing. $318 shipped. Will shave around 12oz's off my WM Ultralite (has 2oz's overfill). Obviously the Summerlite is for a narrow window of time here in Montana (July and some of August), but I know I'll use it in the future in gentler climes than MT. I do want the Montbell Plasma 1000, extravagant though it may be. Going to get a ULA Circuit as a smaller, lighter companion to my Catalyst.
There are ounces everywhere as yet undiscovered, waiting to be eradicated. And so it goes...

The Plasma 1000 was satisfactory as a standalone outer garment. Stayed warm, early, early AM at 35° F on the South Rim. No pockets nor bottom draw string, needs getting used to. I found myself putting my hands in the pockets a couple of time out of habit. Pockets are the biggest sacrifice, but I carry gloves regardless. Draw string essentially unnecessary as waist belt of pack performs the same task. The Plasma 1000 packs exceptionally small. Will use it for all multi-day 3-season applications this season. Another upside of the Plasma 1000 is it's so thin and light. During assessment at home it fit great under the outer layer with simulated hiking movement. Compliments range of motion. No regrets after 6 trail nights, 7 trail days.

No pockets nor bottom draw string, needs getting used to. Ah, gotchya. Yours is the jacket, not the heavier/warmer hoody. The hoody is what I've been eyeballing for a couple years. Aside, I did order a Zpacks DCF pack cover this weekend. That was a precious couple ounces @ $69 shipped!
