We just had an internet family meeting and collectively decided to scrap the Thangsgiving get together. We all pretty much agreed that it just isn't worth the risk. My wife and daughter are really diappointed but see the reality of the situation. We're still fortunate in that we haven't suffered much through the pandemic other that the normal stress we're all feeling. Life goes on.

My DIL is a hard core Covid denier, the rest of the kids understand the situation. No way/ No how are we doing a family Thanksgiving..

It seems especially selfish to me to risk this Thanksgiving when two+ effective vaccines are known to be on the way. Let go of this Thanksgiving. Next year will be different.

We're still proceeding with our smaller get-together. Within our group, the ones with the highest potential exposures were my BIL, who works in a restaurant, and our kids, who attend school 2x per week. Well, last week my BIL got laid off, and due to internet issues, the kids are remote learning (seems counterintuitive, but it actually makes sense).
ETA: Also in the decision-making process... we're going forward with Thanksgiving because it's looking more risky to do Xmas.

Our "pod" family friends and we've decided to have Thanksgiving dinner together. There will be six of us, us parents and adult kids, no other family members or extras. Well, one of the kids won't be with us for Thanksgiving because his boyfriend's roommate just got a positive test. His test came back negative but he decided there's too much uncertainty when tested that close to known exposure. We're all sad but this is the way it's supposed to work. I'm updating here because it's comforting to me to know that there are young people out there doing their best to do the right thing.
