Something we pretty much knew about. But, it's good to see that the facts are still holding out. People who regularly eat chilli peppers live longer, research suggestsChilli eaters may have a “significantly reduced risk of dying from cardiovascular disease or cancer”, according to preliminary research which will be presented this week at the American Heart Association's Scientific Sessions 2020.linkPersonally, I like 'em red and hot.

desert dweller, I've read that as well; from articles I've read years ago (and the one you cited), I believe it's the capsaicin in peppers that creates this. I don't know if anyone has done this (I haven't checked) but distilling that essence and adding it to something not quite so hot might be suitable for folks like me whose mouth burns from the heat of the peppers. Still, it's comforting to read that a natural food instead of medicine is being lauded for its healing properties.

I believe it's the capsaicin in peppers that creates this. It could also have a lot to do with the Vitamin C in all peppers. I enjoy the heat. But, not the extreme like what is in Ghost Peppers.

Wow. I thought I knew what coffee with its caffeine does to the body. But, this tells the story of what too much caffeine can do. The presenter's style and knowledge are addicting. Each 14 minute video includes a mini-biology/physiology lesson. In this episode, a 21 year old college student drinks 2 gallons of coffee while pulling an all-nighter.

desert dweller , interesting, sometimes fascinating, overall frightening, and perhaps something that should be presented for review by students just before exams. I can't help feeling some criticism for the student who waited until the last minute to cram. Perhaps I should feel pity or sadness, but I don't. He should have managed his schedule better so that he wasn't desperate at the last moment. College can be a real awakening and/or introduction to the world beyond. Full time college can be a real learning, growing-up, and preparation for life experience. Unfortunately, this student didn't have that benefit. I hope he's learned his lesson and doesn't do anything stupid like this again. Although, in all fairness, I once learned on a legal forum about methods used by associates in high power NY law firms, especially during high profile M & As. I was glad I wasn't working in that kind of environment, just back here in Michigan in a less high profile environment.

I can't help feeling some criticism for the student who waited until the last minute to cram. Perhaps I should feel pity or sadness, but I don't. He should have managed his schedule better so that he wasn't desperate at the last moment. When I was going to school and through out most of my life I was unorganized in about every way. I didn't plan out studying time, play time, work time or marriage time. I graduated but not with grades to brag about, I'm still playing and enjoying life though nothing organized, working is self organizing mainly because there are inherent goals (I have about 5 more years of it.) and none of my marriages worked out no matter how well we thought plans were made. I was and still am mostly clueless about most aspects of life. So, I can't fault anyone for how they manage their life. I may shake my head at someone's choices but I wouldn't even try to second guess their reasons. I hope he's learned his lesson and doesn't do anything stupid like this again. I bet he never drinks coffee again.

desert dweller, that surprises me. I never would have thought you weren't highly organized. With all that you've accomplished, that doesn't fit a pattern. But you're an achiever regardless, and I respect that. Perhaps I was a bit harsh on the coffee drinker.

that doesn't fit a pattern There are some activities that force one to be organized. Being in the Army right out of high school is one example. But, the military's regimented discipline didn't stick. Also backpacking itself requires planning, organizing and discipline. That activity did more than anything to help me choose proper goals and set out on a path to get there. But, I'm really not goal oriented. I still live life like a silver ball in a pinball machine. Bouncing around and trying not to hit anything but yet manage to.

Watch trains passing in the night. I don't have any audio recordings of a train but I do have a picture that I took a couple of years back.

Thank you this this post. My wife and I are big pepper eaters. I grow a variety of hot peppers. I grew some Chocolate Bhutlas this year. A new strain that was bred to be hotter than a Carolina Reaper. They're hotter than Ghost Peppers.
So if more hot is more better, I am going to live forever.
And now for something completely different:
