I just finished reading"Lost on Purpose" by Patrick Taylor. In 2013 at the age of 58 Patrick set out to recreate the Lewis and Clark expedition crossing the Rocky Mountains in Oct. and Nov. alone. He does a really good job of preparing for the trip, however, I could not eat the same breakfast and dinner for 30 straight days like he did. He wanted to spend the first 30 days with no distractions or side trips into town for more supplies. So, he carried 30 packets of oatmeal and 30 packets of tuna. But, hey, he did it. I also would not backpack in Northern Idaho in November. Some of the weather conditions he encountered would have had me signaling for rescue with my PLB. It is a good backpacking book though and doesn't take very long to read.
