I had intended to hike the PCT from Bengin, WA to Manning Park, BC this past summer. Covid factor upset all travel and long-distance hiking. The planned hike was 514.5 miles with an expected 34 days in the field requiring six (6) resupplies (including start) to support 32 dinners. The dinner menu consisted of 23 different entrees, AlpineAire, MaryJane Farms, Mountain House, MRE and PackitGourmet.
Below is a sample menu for 6 dinners planned from Packwood to Snoqualmie Pass. I tend to have at least one no cook cold-dinner per resupply to conserve fuel, time and water.
Breakfast was nearly 100% MRE Turnovers, Muffins and Pound Cakes with a few ProBar Cookie Dough and Coffee Crunch Bars. Breakfast variety of 10 items over 32 days. The MRE items come in a wide variety, packaging is efficient and only the Carrot Pound Cake and Cornbread get crumby smashed in the pack.
Lunches were simple Nature's Bakery Fig Bars, MRE Pizza, MRE French Toast, MRE Italian Sausage support by snacks such as Duke's Shorty Sausage (4 varieties) Vermont Original Beef & Pork Sticks and MRE Peanut Butter and Cheese Spread (now really hard to find).
Fluids also well represented with single stick Gatorade G2 (4 flavors), Vitalyte (2 flavors) and Propel (2) flavors). Minimum 2 sticks per day.
My favorite beverage was my after dinner drink consisting of a coffee/cocoa combination from (4) varieties of Starbuck's Via or a Cafe Bustelo mixed with one of (8) single pack varieties of Land O Lakes Cocoa.
