This only really affects anyone who owns an older Suunto device like Ambit or Traverse. It has been a long time coming. My major complaint about my Ambit3 Peak is that the only way to change some critical settings (like ping rate) is to hook up the watch to a computer and change the settings in Movescount. Seems like I should be able to do that on the watch itself. Supposedly, I will now be able to do so with Suuntolink. Haven't tried it yet, so we'll see. A couple of articles: the5krunner

Well, I discovered SuuntoLink will update my Ambit3 Peak (firmware, GPS info, etc.), and will reset to factory settings, but does not appear to let me change my settings or customize sport modes. I can still do that with Movescount. I'm still not clear whether Movescount will just bar new uploads after end-of-life but still allow changes to settings or whether it will disappear altogether. If the latter, that really diminishes the functionality of the watch.
