That's me in my seventh hour outside. Time to dig out the fire hydrant.

It took me ten minutes to find where the hydrant was buried. 10 more to dig it out. Those are Subaru Foresters Another neighbor came by to help. He ran the snow thrower while I shoveled. Damn fool wore white in a blizzard but he's a lot of help. Headed to help the neighbors I hate wearing a hood. They always hang to low and screw up my vision.

Yes, it is. I found myself wearing flannel shirts and light jackets, back when i lived where snow fell. As a younger man, I put out a lot of heat when I was busy working. Surprised there isn't steam rising off your head.
Shoveling snow is very hot work.

I actually was steaming. The wind was blowing hard enough that my wife couldn't catch the steam in the picture.

Also, did you try raising the front of the blower by lowering the handle? Sometimes that helps eat the top layer.

You definitely got more over there than we did here (OOC). It's stopped again. I'll check it out again when the sun comes up, but I (hopefully) got through the worst of it today.

Any idea what the temps were during your shovel fest? Above 25*? 20?

Also, did you try raising the front of the blower by lowering the handle? Sometimes that helps eat the top layer. I did. That helped some in the initial passes but there was just simply too much snow to keep moving forward. Air temps were between 20-25 all day. Wind kicked up a few times but we didn't get the 35-40mph blasts that some areas did. News reports are now saying this is the biggest single event snowfall since they started keeping records. I hope my basement doesn't flood.

Thanks for the photos, Jim. I'm more than a little jealous. But I won't even pretend to have the energy you're putting into the project.
