If I want to watch a hiking movie with a 6 and an 8 year old grandchild would "Wild" be suitable? I see it is rated "R" but that can mean many things.

It's been a while since I've seen that movie, but I remember brief nudity, and a fair amount of content related to drugs (heroin, I believe) and promiscuous sex. The overall tone was pretty heavy. I would probably say no. Plus, quite frankly, I thought it was a dreadful movie.

Get the PBS video “Alone in the Wilderness” about. Guy who hikes into the wilderness, builds a cabin, and lives there. Hikes around and looks at scenery and wildlife, builds things he needs, hunts and fishes, gets his mail and some groceries and new socks by seaplane. Very clean movie and documentary of a true story.

Definitely not for kids. We watched it a couple of months ago. And, after only a few minutes, I sent my 11-year-old from the room.
