Remarkable achievement, though I wonder how much he enjoyed the scenery.

Every time I click on that link, the first thing I see is a video about another hiker who clearly IS NOT Jeff Garmire, the "speed freak". She's a black woman representing an organization called "Blackpacker", Patricia Cameron. The video, which can be accessed directly at 9news.com/embeds/video/73-470aae61-6657-41f1-bed6-c466692f8c78/iframe?jwsource=cl is, at least for me, more interesting than the primary article, though I have no idea why it was inserted into this story, other than that it was yet another story about hiking. Maybe it's more important, or more interesting, to walk for 9 days without sleep, but I see that as a "stunt". I couldn't do it, but I'm sure there are real "speed freaks" who could do it thataway while popping countless bennies. But, I get it. I understand that this is a "general news" and "marketing bait" website set up by a TV station (supposedly), but this is something that I seem to run into all the time now. Is there some reason these websites keep using "misdirect" as a tool? I mean, click on a story about something, and as likely as not, the first thing on the page will be a video, which runs automatically, about something which is not related to the headline or the link. What gives? I also get that there are actually people around who'd watch the video, never bother to read the story and then come away with content that was something other than the subject of the headline? In this particular case, it's clear there's a disconnect for a couple of reasons. Color me frustrated and confused.

Yup! I may not get motivated to do something like this particular feat, but that doesn’t mean my reasons for getting out on the trail are any more valid than someone else’s. I’m impressed, whether I see the point or not, if only to know what’s possible.

Here’s a more detailed look from BPL on planning the calories and the gear. This includes a custom LiteAF cuben fiber tiger backpack, which is waterproof enough not to require a separate rain cover and half a foam pad. Also a cuben fiber tarp with no type of bug net (no way). backpackinglight.com/jeff-garmire-colorado-trail-fkt-2020/Add that Cameron’s backpack looked a bit funner but she resupplied. Interesting how typical CT hikers got into “pods” for town visits.
