I’ll have a Zima on the rocks please. Starting early. Must have been a heck of a week. I’m still at the “gimme a latte—and make it a triple” stage of my day.

I successfully completed a chain-saw job with all of my parts intact. I will celebrate later with a couple of these (one of the best beers in the world, IMHO):

The gates of larger life have opened, and received one of our very best.
Venerable Mom died yesterday. She would have been 95 years old next month.
Anything will do.

When my sisters and I got older she went back to substitute teaching, then later full time.
Anyway, she was 5' 1 1/4" at her max, and she never neglected to include the 1/4" if you inquired. Sweet little southern lady.
But the kids almost never crossed her.
When the freshmen and sophomores saw her as a substitute they automatically went into brat mode, causing trouble, testing her. The juniors and seniors would immediately step in and say, "Oh no, you don't mess with Mrs. J." Smacked the troublemakers right down for her.
She rarely had to discipline anyone. She just had that outlook, that demeanor, that kindness, that personality that few would cross, even though it was a very gentle and mild personality. There was just too much love and kindness for all but the very worst to cross her.
It was a gift we could all use.

Reuben, sorry for your loss. We did not honor her well last night with only a bottle of Asturian cider....sigh.

Ughh.... Rueben, that is no fun. Sounds like the world could use a few more people like her!
