The disrupted season has clearly benefited some more than others. I’m seeing that in NASCAR where there’s no practice sessions. Some adapt, others fall behind.

Kuss and van Aert are truly superdomestiques.

Stage 17 was one of the most entertaining I've seen in years.

On the US front, I'm disappointed in Tejay. I didn't even know he was in the race. Maybe team dynamics have relegated him to low man on the totem pole?I've been impressed with both Nielson and Sepp. Also disappointed there are only 3 Americans.
I had my own personal mountain stage yesterday... 1300' up a hill into a headwind. Impressed that it's the second fastest I've rode (ridden?) that route. Disappointed that I lost nearly all my time at the very top of the hill (headwind was brutal there). Impressed that I hit 61 mph on the downhill!

Impressed that I hit 61 mph on the downhill! I am impressed as well. Have you had a psychiatric evaluation recently? I always say that I never ride faster than about 45 mph, because my bike seems to develop some kind of vibration at speeds higher than that. The vibration seems to come from somewhere around my knees...

Pogacar went full on Beast Mode. After the first time check he really started to put time into Roglic.
I have to say, I didn't expect that. Roglic has looked better on the climbs (on my TV in the U.S.), although prior to today the climbs were longer, taller, on much longer stages, with teammates. Not so today. There's a reason that individual time trials are still called "the race of truth".
Going up, Roglic was spinning a lower gear while Pogacar was cranking a higher gear at a relatively decent cadence, and Pogacar was able to hold it to the end, never cracking. I mean, he just stomped it. I kept waiting for a downshift, a drop in pace, drop in cadence, perhaps followed by a bit of standing on the pedals, but that rarely happened.
In the end, he was able to sustain the greater gear inches, which proved to be too much for Roglic.
Chapeau!

It was very classy of Roglic to congratulate Pogacar - in the media tent, in the middle of an interview, for all to see.
Chapeau to Roglic.

Roglic did very well, he was simply beaten by someone who did far better. A great race.
1. Tadej Pogacar 2. Tom Dumoulin (+1:21) 3. Richie Porte (+1:21) 4. Wout van Aert (+1:31) 5. Primoz Roglic (+1:56)

Will be great , for us Aussies, to see Richie Porte on the podium. his comment " For me it’s an absolute dream. I grew up watching the Tour de France on the other side of the world, seeing guys like Robbie McEwen, Brad McGee and the greatest of them all, Cadel Evans. It doesn’t matter what other races you’ve won, the Tour’s the one that you're always judged on," Porte said. "To finally crack the podium, that’s the picture I want on the wall at home, in Paris on the podium; it means so much to a bike rider. It’s just so incredible to finally do it, it feels like a victory to be honest." lucky for him that the time trial finished uphill. Well done on his 10th attempt. (only 2 Aussie riders this year)

Incredibly dramatic stage. Like when LeMond took 40 seconds from Fignon to win.

I like the Team Time Trial because it's just amazing to me to see those guys powering away with clockwork precision (!) but that last individual time trial does allow someone that may not have the best team to gain some time on the opponents. Of course one can always design that last time trial to suit a particular rider but that is not likely to happen is it ? Anyway, finally Richie on the podium !!!
BTW, those flower girls are getting younger every year . Too young I think.

Looks like the runnerup for Best Young Rider couldn't wait his turn.
