I have a Big Agnes tent stuff sack. On my most recent trip, it tore open and is unusable.
I bought a replacement from BA, so far so good.
Question: Is the old stuff sack good for anything? Maybe to use as emergency repair fabric along with Seam Grip? Or is it better to just buy seam tape?

Depending on how long you’d had the first sack it might be worth keeping for spare material to repair the replacement when you tear that one. OTOH if it was a decade old and a low odds accident (closed in a trunk lid...) I’d think just toss it. Maybe save the cord lock if there’s one.
If you sew spare matching fabric is useful, for myself since I don’t: I repair tape on both sides of a rip.

Personally, I salvage the cord lock and toss out the rest. Between the seam tape and the Tear Aid repair kit for my pad I think I have it covered.

I sew, but I’m with the toss it and use repair tape crowd.

I would tend to save it for repairs. My wife would say toss it we have enough junk. In this case maybe she would be right. You might have it around for a while unused then maybe when the need comes up it might be either too old or completely the wrong color.

I bought a replacement from BA, so far so good. If the stuff sack is constructed of the same sil-poly as the tent body, it will have the same short arc of life as the original in my experience. OEM shelter stuff sacks seem to be constructed to keep the pack weight down. Like 10-15 years ago with UL tent floors.
