Anybody know if the “locals only” restrictions on the trailheads and county rds in San Juan County enacted by the local sheriff in May has been lifted? I have 4 midweek days off in August and was hoping to head up that way for some dispersed camping and fishing. (Before y’all grump at me about Covid...I work in an ER. I’m exposed daily. We’re traveling with a tent and a cooler packed with groceries and plan to touch only a gas pump handle or two.) 😁

I see that the San Juan National Forest web site is not of much help. I'd recommend contacting the ranger district office for the areas you want to visit and asking them about access restrictions.

Yeah, I tried looking at the NF site, the county website, and the county health department. We’re usually planning routes as we drive halfway across the country, so I guess I’ll check with the districts for La Plata, Hinsdale, Mineral, and San Juan counties...I’m seeking the holy grail of good views, good fishing, and no company 🤣

I believe all counties in Colorado have relaxed their travel restrictions. Then entire state does require masks indoors, and some cities have more restrictive laws requiring wearing masks in public.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.

If the restrictions ARE still in place, they don't seem to be enforced on the northern side of the San Juans, at least. It wouldn't hurt to try to reach the San Juan NF just to get there official position (but if I were you, I'd go for it). Dispersed camping is one of the more low Covid-risk activities out there.
