I had instructions on a label sewn into the stuff sack. You didn't? Whad'ya know? Since I rarely use stuff sacks for tents I didn't see that. The first thing I had to figure out was to clip the two pieces together, and then it was easy enough. I went on YouTube but watched old Iron Maiden concert videos and forgot about the tent. Don't guess I'll use those tiny shepherds hook stakes on my Sierra trip since I often need to pound them. Anybody have experience with these stakes?

I went on YouTube but watched old Iron Maiden concert videos and forgot about the tent. Glad that's never happened to me. Don't guess I'll use those tiny shepherds hook stakes on my Sierra trip since I often need to pound them. Anybody have experience with these stakes? I've personally never found a shepherd's hook that was worth carrying. For my Durston 2P, I replaced the four main stakes with some good 8" Eastons. I carry a couple of the shepherd's hooks for the additional/optional guy-outs.

I carry a couple of the shepherd's hooks for the additional/optional guy-outs. Agree. 8" Eastons are my primary stakes, too. I have a note to myself in big writing in my gear room: "Did you pack tent stakes with the tent?" (Fortunately, that is merely profylactic, not the result of a hard-learned lesson.)

I'll be in northern NM in Sept and early October. Are you considering your entire trip to be "self quarantine"? Or are you figuring this will all be over by then? New Mexico Anyone entering New Mexico, including permanent residents, must self-quarantine for 14 days or the duration of their trip, whichever is shorter. Essential workers, including healthcare workers, government workers, and airline employees, are exempt from the quarantine requirement. Those passing through the state are asked to only stop for essential activities like pumping gas or buying food. New Mexico also has a mask mandate in all public places unless a person is eating, drinking, or exercising. Anyone failing to comply with the mask mandate is subject to a $100 fine. "State Travel Restrictions During COVID-19: A Complete Guide" I'm just curious about those who are venturing out now.

I’m hoping that order has expired by then, but I’m traveling on my own, so observing a 14-day quarantine would be suboptimal but not impossible.

Thanks for your answer. I figured it was simple, but I was wondering.

"Did you pack tent stakes with the tent?" (Fortunately, that is merely profylactic, not the result of a hard-learned lesson.) I forgot stakes and was able to use sticks in soft earth once last spring, so I'm not immune. Not sure the wire-thin shepherds hooks would have worked in that spot.
