Makes sense: group camps are really incompatible with social distancing.

It’s spilling over into the backcountry: multiple anecdotes report Sequoia Kings Canyon is now requiring carrying bear canisters as they put the lockers off limits “due to COVID-19”
It’s not reflected in their webpage or Wilderness Trip Planner but multiple backpackers have written the rangers are requiring them.

Well, I've ended up having conversations with randoms at shared bear lockers before. Have yet to see anyone with a mask on the trails and it's a gathering spot that also concentrates campers close to them, instead of people being more dispersed. And it's been floated before that removing backcountry lockers would solve the issue of the trash dumpers filling them up with things they don't want to carry any more... this seems an opportunity for a variety of changes. Hoping that some of them, like the throttling of traffic in Yosemite via the entry permit reservations, actually stick.
