I’m headed to the Sawtooths on July 13 and called the ranger services today for trail conditions. Unfortunately, most ranger offices are currently closed, so detailed reports were not available. Was wondering if anyone has been there recently and could share some trail conditions.
For reference, I’m ferrying across Redfish Lake, headed to Baron Lakes, backtracking and headed towards Alice Lake and exiting Tincup TH. Plan to make a 4 night 5 day trip. Any update is greatly appreciated.
thanks

As of Saturday there was still snow above 9000 feet. Snowyside Pass had significant snow but a friend did it on a dayhike and said it was a bit tricky but doable. However, Sunday and Monday nights the mountains received more snow, at least several inches. The forecast for the next week or so is calling for temps in the 70’s which should help melt some snow.

Thanks Kayman. I don’t mind the snow or cold. My main concern is the two passes I’ll be crossing. Otherwise, the trails seem pretty straight forward. Finding good camping spots around the lakes may be a challenge. We’ll see soon enough.
