They're all guyline tensioners, and they all work pretty much the same way. I opted for the Hilleberg style tensioners about two decades ago since that's what came with the tent. I think I bought about 100 of the things. Now they can be had on ebay for about $10 - $20 for a 25 cello pack, and they come in "glow in the dark" and, probably, just about any color you could possibly want. The "cam rings" are also attainable from various places for much less than you'll pay for the MSR version - they're all just aluminum alloy with 3 holes, so what's to go wrong?
I have those on tents that came with them and I like them a lot.

I’ve been fine with whatever comes on a tent, and if it doesn’t have them, I’ll tie a whossiz hitch that slides up and not down.

P.S. I have been using these when I want an open loop. But they sometimes break.

So I got my stuff. The rings are small but work well with paracord and 3mm line. The rings weigh 2g. The yellow plastic pictured above weighs 4g. The three hole ones are very positive in holding their position and could take heaver line. They come in at 5g.
I like the rings. Not sure about the three hole ones. Probably heading to the misc camping box to sit there unused.

I opted for the Hilleberg style tensioners I really don't like the Hilleberg style. It's what's on both my Big Agnes tents. I've been planning on replacing them, but it's been a fairly low priority. However, after being out this weekend and having a reminder how much I dislike the triangles, I've decided to put off my procrastination and get with it! I've had this excellent thread bookmarked for quite a while... good reference: backpackinglight.com/forums/topic/guy-line-tensioner/
