Little known scientific FACT - Francis Bacon invented bacon. It's little known because it isn't true. In fact the opposite happened. When he was born in the small Welsh town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, because of the pollution from the mines so many men had become infertile to the point that children were kidnapped and sold or given away as the first prize in a lottery. It just happened that when Francis "father" arrived back to his house with the just won baby , his wife asked him : did you bring home the bacon ? And that is how Sir Francis became known as Bacon.

...and years later, when he came up with his method for curing pork, he named it after himself.

BTW, the English word for bacon comes from the same word in French . (pronounced bé·kon) Funny thing is that often the French call it lardon or lard , not to be confused with the English word...lard.

Nessie left the Lach via a, long story, truck/tanker and swam across the Atlantic to the St Lawrence and to Chicago via various Great Lakes to the Illinois River and swam down that to the Mississippi, swam up the Mississippi a bit, and is living just 15 miles from my home in the Mississippi with the Asian Carp watching them jump over Blue cats.

One problem with the advent of science is that it took magic out of the world. Clarke's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. So we just need to sufficiently advance tech to bring the magic back.

A few weeks ago as I was transferring files from my 64 GB card to an external hard drive, I worked out that if I was paying per megabite what I paid for my first hard drive, the card would cost now over 1 million dollars. Or to put it another way, I can store about 12 HD movies on 1" square . Or 15 times that if I buy a 1TB card.

I wouldn't want to thread drift with any other group of people!
