First actual spring hike was just a day and half trip in the first weekend of May 2020. First dehydrated DIY meal was green chiles, green enchilada sauce, vegetable mix, beef flavored TVP on Minute Rice. There was heavy mix of oregano, cumin and garlic powder. Breakfast was typical quick oats, walnut pieces, chopped dates and instant milk (one cup) with cinnamon and cardamon.

That sounds delicious. That's definitely a little more effort than I ever put into breakfast on the trail, but it sounds worth it.
One oy my most memorable trail meals was a lunch on the last day of a short solo trip. I had an extra dehydrated meal, and was in no particular hurry to get back to vehicle, so I stopped and cooked it. It was literally the only time I've ever *cooked* lunch while hiking. It was a lovely change of pace.

State parks open tomorrow here. I already have THREE meals ready for our hike. Screw school, it's hiking day!
