I love to see the patterns of the trees, both in full leaf and in the winter when the bare bones structures reveal the branches' growth patterns. Sometimes they're like intricate needlework patterns, and really are inspiring for needlework applications. echo, your photo is stunning, with a blend of softness yet strength, myriad linear and curvilinear patterns, and soft dappled sunlight vs. dark shade. It could be a setting for a fairy tale or J. K. Rowling adventure.

Thanks! That’s a huge sycamore tree in a ravine, in a local park that’s quite hilly. It was early morning in early April, so all the trees were still bare of any leaves. As the sun rose over the horizon, from behind me, the slope on the far side of the tree got bathed in bright sunshine. The sycamore was still in shadow, but its white trunk stood out starkly against the sunlit background. I took this from a fair distance away with a 400mm lens.

Wow, glad I posted and woke up all the tree photographers! There are some great ones here—I’m particularly fond of the trees in the fog (both Gali’s and Toejam’s. And of course Gali’s final “reverse silhouette” is amazing.
