Got My New Pack Today, I Can Go Out and Play! Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Ay! This Will be the Way, Till Corvid Goes Away!
Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Ay! Feeling Better Now! Best News Anyhow! Hyperlite Mountain Gear Daybreak Ultralight 17LRetired 80's Lowe Contour 40. Tossed 90's Osprey Stratos 24. Badly needed Corvid retail therapy. Forecast is for increased local day hike activity. Will follow up later with report.

Congratulations! You will get many years of use out of that pack. I have been eyeing them also. Please let us know how it handles a heavy load, or a bear barrel.

I have no interest in that particular pack, but I did notice that REI now sells HMG.
I have an HMG 2400 that I typically use when on weighted practice hikes, wrapping a 20lb dumbell in a jacket for some cushioning.

paula53 The HMG Daybreak is a 17 liter day pack. Worst case it will be loaded with crampons and an ice axe for day use. Have asked the bear canister question myself. Need to test our Bearikade Weekender canister with HMG Junction 3400 or Southwest 3400 backpack. Future plans will require a bear canister either mandatory or an elective. Will let you know! Thanks for the reminder.
