I know I won't get reports up here, in addition to sending email to about a million people and making blog posts. So I'll share blog posts about the Antarctica cruise here, as they get posted. The first one went up today.

Amazing! What great shots of the icebergs! ...even a small piece of ice in the water puts up a lot of resistance when you hit it with your paddle... That's because 90% of the iceberg is below water, which of course you know, but maybe weren't thinking of when trying to push the dang thing away...?

GaliWalker, I think it was simpler than that. I just wasn’t thinking :D. It wasn’t just the amount under water, but the resistance to movement that the thing has!

rebeccad, I'm really enjoying a vicarious trip to and through Antarctica, so many thanks to you. I haven't commented on the photos and report in part b/c I'm so captivated by the thought of the trip, and really want to spend some relaxing time meandering through them on a nice cold, windy, wet day. To me, this would be a "trip of a lifetime." The trip reports and the photos are incredible.

autumnmist, it was definitely the trip of a lifetime, even without the “bonus cruise.” It’s one of quite a few “trips of a lifetime” we’ve taken, and I hope there will be many more. But even if we never leave the US again, I’m glad to have this one to remember!

Quite awesome rebeccad ! Traveling to the Antarctic is really a dream of mine! It is so amazing. And if you ever do it, I can totally recommend our tour company. The small ship was hard on my seasickness, but perfect for really experiencing the place.
