I hope everyone else is OK, too. I didn't know there were active faults in ID. This map is interesting: linkThe more recent faults have a basin and range type of orientation.

Geesh! Plagues. Earthquakes. Crashing Economy. Locusts ravaging North Africa. What's next? Bring it on. Have you put lamb's blood on your lintel?

Geesh! Plagues. Earthquakes. Crashing Economy. Locusts ravaging North Africa. What's next? Bring it on. I've been somewhat reluctant to post this, but ... Okay, I don't claim to have received a "personal message", you see, at least of any consequence ... but … Photographed locally while out walking, Feb 7:Photographed locally while out walking, Feb 24:There was this booming, somewhat distorted voice … … but I couldn’t make out what was being said … … it sorta sounded like “DON’T YEE SLUMP!” So I straightened up and continued walking.

www.cbsnews.com/news/idaho-fault-line-could-spur-75-magnitude-quake/
...while thousands were caught off guard, bewildered by the out-of-the-blue earthquake, some scientists — such as Glenn Thackray, a geoscientist at Idaho State University — had already encouraged people near the epicenter to prepare for an earthquake a decade ago.
“We knew quickly that that area was likely to have earthquakes,” said Thackray, who discovered the Sawtooth Fault in 2010. That fault did not produce Tuesday’s quake, which instead occurred on a boundary intersecting that fault. Regardless, a decade ago, Thackray set about notifying residents of the town of Stanley about the potential for a major earthquake.

"The most vulnerable town is Stanley, with a population of only 100, but a 7.5-magnitude quake would likely cause serious damage and be felt in Boise, 80 miles away."
There's no map, but I wouldn't be surprised if that means the fault follows the Salmon River valley. It looks like the perfect place for a basin-and-range fault, being situated in a basin between the Sawtooth and White Cloud mountains.

The most direct route from Boise to Stanley has been blocked, Highway 21. I was stuck on Highway 21 for about six hours once because of a motorcycle accident. A problem there makes everything grind to a halt.
