As you may have read here, I have sabbatical from my university teaching job this coming fall. My plan was to spend a significant chunk of it--maybe 4-8 weeks, in residence somewhere in the western mountain states. I applied to several artist residency programs (I am a composer), but nearly all of them have already postponed their fall residency programs.
Shifting to plan B, if anyone knows anyone or has any suggestions for any possible very modest accommodations anywhere in the mountain west, please let me know. More remote = more better. All I really need is the bare basics: a bed, electricity, a place to cook meals. I would just quietly do my work, and just about all of my non-work time I'd be gone hiking (or drinking beer).
I'm looking at some AirBNB possibilities, but I'm not sure I can afford even the most modest place for that long at AirBNB prices.
I'm an excellent cook and I'm handy: I'd consider some sort of arrangement where I could offer those skills as partial payment.
I'm really just looking for any sorts of possibilities to consider--no suggestion is too weird. Obviously, if travel is still off the table by fall, then all bets are off.

CW I will keep my ears up for this. With all the uncertianty right now I'm just not sure what going to happen in these parts or anywhere I'm familiar with gfrom the Gila to Bozeman. If the "boomerrang" come sin September I would think nothing much is gonna happen.
Keep me in your loop, things could change quickly.
