My favorite description of seasickness, from a dear old friend and ex-Navy Captain: He spent the day staring in open-mouthed adoration at the sea... Nice, but I in fact spent the 3 days in the fetal position, when not sprinting for the head. In my defense, it was a rough passage. At one point, I was tossed off the toilet into the shower. On another occasion, my husband was tossed out of the shower and onto the toilet. All joking aside, we were lucky on our ship that no one had worse than scrapes and bruises. One of the women who came off our sister ship to join our journey to the airport had an arm in what looked to me like a makeshift cast. When asked what happened all she said was “the Drake Shake.” One more than one occasion I found myself sliding down to the foot of my bunk, then back up to collide with the headboard.

Rebecca, a knowledgeable person that visited North Table Mountain a week ago showed images that verified flowers are as poor as in our worst drought springs. Very brown and droughty looking. Will save us both some gas, so stay home stay safe for now. Also noted parking was full like many other previously little known wildflower destinations that social media has found and advertised.

davesenesac, thanks for the tip. We will be sticking with local walks and bike rides (with requisite social distancing, of course). Though the rain in the last few days seems to have greened things up, and around town the poppies and lupine are looking good.

Last year the best blooms at Table Mountain and Upper Bidwell were in mid April

Been there, done that, and it's miserable. And as they say, the only effective cure is to sit under a tree. But I still go sailing!

Glad you made it home safe rebeccad. While the seasickness sounds wretched, it looks like you had an amazing trip. Looking forward to seeing more photos.

Glad you made it back, Rebecca. I've been seeing news stories about Americans stuck in different countries around the world. Sounds like a great vacation and adventure even without the hassles of getting back. The photos you posted are great.
