Andrews' first book, Badluck Way, dealing with wolves and cattle ranching was, IMO, a great read. So when I came across his second book, Down From the Mountain, I was eager to read it. It was a disappointment. Basically, it detailed Andrew's attempt to save a mother grizzly and her cubs in Montana's Flathead Valley by building an electric fence around a corn field they had been accustomed to raiding. Ultimately, the attempt failed and the sow died. But the book was really more about building a fence than anything and it was a real effort for me to get through it. If it had a saving grace, it was detailing the complex interaction between wild animals and the encroachment of civilization on their habitat along with the inevitable result. You might be interested, but I found it a bit disappointing.
