Now that it's 65 degrees here on Long Island, I figured I'd put up a TR from our cold, snowy trip to the Adirondacks a few weeks ago. We arrived at the trailhead about 10PM, and snowshoed in to the lean-to. We had opted not to bring tents, and while it did go down to about 10 degrees, we did ok. Being lazy, we did not boil water before turning in. There are no shortcuts in winter camping, Tim's feet would have been a bit warmer. Tim's pack down in the lean-to: I forgot to take the battery into the sleeping bag with me, so my camera was useless the next day. All the rest of the pics are Tim's. We had a trail to follow for about half way up, but the folks before us had timed out the day before and turned back. We broke trail the rest of the way. We were not alone! Hurricane has spectacular 360 degree summit views, 6 degrees and a bit windy at the top. Just a few other parties on the trail. It was nice to have some deep, fresh snow, very little fell this year farther South. A fun outing!
