I was doing some car camping on a very nice campground by a river. Cloudy the first day then sunny but with cool nights. Early one morning getting out to go to the toiulet my wife bump the head onto the inner and touched the fly, it then started to drip a bit. Getting up about an hour later I noticed that the fly was compleatly wet just holding on some large drops. So was the car next to it and of course all the other cars and caravans. (we had the only non standing-in type tent) later in the day I thought I should have taken a photo because for a start the tent was still taut enough (as usual for me) and because the condensation on it and on the cars was pretty much identical. The next morning condensation was much reduced, again cars and tent having about the same amount. This is a photo of it. probably hard to tell but car and tent are wet. No I did not re-tension my tent fly, it was untouched since I set it at around 8 PM the night before when it was warm and dry. (I let it sag during the day so that in the sun it does not pull the stakes out ( I had that happen) .
Hard to tell even by clicking on the photo to get the larger view but the point is that as I commented many times before, in the morning after a non rainy night, if you see a wet car , in the same spot you would have a wet tent, no matter what design or material is made of.
