I have a plain wool button-up Woolrich shirt that I wear fro working around the house/yard when its not warm enough for just a t-shirt. My Grandpa used to wear shirts just like that, and it just gives me so much pleasure to think about that whenever I put it on. Same here. I do many things my grandfathers did, including using their tools handed down to me. I take great joy in their memory whenever I do such things.

Heck, I'll even replace those xistors with MOSFETS MOSFET guitar amps have warmer tone - handle more amps like a tube. SMD is surface mount devices. Six Moon Designs?

Is Muley Point anywhere near Muley Twist Canyon? If so, I’m on-board for a meet-up to discuss grammatical issues and tent stakes. South end of Cedar Mesa, south of Grand Gulch. You can see Muley lower left in frame and the awesome Moki Dugway is upper right. That is how we drive up onto the Mesa from Bluff, UT or Comb Ridge. The whole area is off the charts surreal.

The whole area is off the charts surreal. It's a place you have to keep going back to.

Really need to get into that area. Muley Twist Canyon is pretty cool, too

Muley Twist has s no far, over in Capital Reef. We also really like that area too and have done both backpacking and dayhiking there.
The time we went up onto Muley Point and double staked the tent against the impending storm, we had been camping and hiking in the Canyons of the Ancients area. Those roads didn’t seem a good place to be in a wet storm. At least the short road into Muley is well maintained and gradesd so water won’t pool. Might take some time to dry but not near as long as those where we had been in Colorado. The mud anywhere up on the Colorado Plateau is a greasy, sticky thing that builds up on the tires causing lose of traction and steering and quickly will fill and obstruct the wheel wells.
But we have found the entire 4-corners intriguing.

I don't get all the hatred for Eastons. I've tried lots of others but always come back to Eastons for standard equipment. Yes, there are situations where a Groundhog will hold better, but it'll also pierce just about any boot sole and sever whatever blood vessels it can find on the other side. Okay, I have to admit that I've been holding back information, though it may or may not be all that interesting to those of you who hold a bad opinion of Easton hollow steaks - er, stakes. I guess I'm just plain ol' greedy. The supplier has been out of these, and they won't be back in stock until April. I've been trying to get my hands on a sample of Big Sky Tube Steaks ( that's not an error, guys!), because I've heard good things about them. They're strong, they're light, they're a pretty good color (but not blue), and they supposedly cure the problem with the other Eastons by having the "cap" inside of the stake itself, instead of just on top, so that you can't pull it out when you tug on the cord. bigskyproducts.com/big-sky-tube-steak-stake-peg.aspxI admit also to reading this review on Section Hiker, which sparked my interest. sectionhiker.com/big-sky-tube-steak-al-tent-stakes-review/I feel really bad about this, I do. New web site for Tube Steak tent pegs: bigskyinternational.com/bigskyinternational.com/products/tube-steak-tent-stake-peg-kit

When car-camping, which is where we are most apt to run into rock-hard ground, That has been my experience, I try to remember a hatchet which I use to hammer in my stakes. Once I was cursing trying to stake out my hammock, and a guy came over with a mallet. That (Canadian?) site seemed to have cleared all the rocks to if I remember right. I think they harden them on purpose. ----------- BTW I take ground hogs, and some hook stakes that came with numerous Black Diamond tarps and tents I have bought. They bend easy but go in easier in hard ground. I do have trip tease I could use for an emergency? I bought some large ground hogs but not sure where they went . . .
