Update: I'm seriously considering this for September. All caveats apply, of course, but I may spend a couple weeks on a working retreat in the Crestone area, if that's a reasonable thing to do. Then, when well acclimated, do some version of this traverse in the area between Hermit Pass and Mt. Adams.

The Rocky Mountain Forum survives Crudvid!
Crestone is awesome! Great hiking there! It's really come of age recently. My school, Colorado Collgege has a place at the Baca. Looking forward to some awesome pics!

Keep me in the loop. I've been looking at something like that, maybe even starting as far north as [Hermit] Pass. With 2 vehicles, a longer stretch could be possible. Thunderstorms and a good forecast would be my main concern up there. Update: I'm planning to do this in mid September. My plan is to hike up Venable Creek, over Venable Pass, and camp in Groundhog Basin. From there, I'll head up to Venable Peak, then run the ridge south, hopefully at least to Fluted Peak...possibly as far as Mt. Adams if the connecting ridge between Fluted and Adams is friendly enough. Then retreat down to Horn Creek, either from the Fluted/Little Horn saddle, or from the Fluted/Adams saddle (if I get that far). The bail-out contingency is to drop (to the east) into any of the other drainages between Venable and Horn creeks, since they all have trails that lead back to the car. If there's a day remaining, I might try climbing up and over Little Baldy from Horn creek to Macy Creek, because I'm a glutton for punishment, and because I love Macy Lakes: I took both my boys there many, many years ago. If anyone is interested in meeting up, I'm looking at Sept 11-15. My dates are firm because I have AirBnB reservations before and after. The actual ridge run would be on 9/13 or 9/14.
