Hey, Ryan, welcome to the area! I haven't been over to the East Bay parks in quite a while, but there are some nice areas. Have you gotten a bike yet? That can really help with access

Surprisingly, parts of Oakland are quite nice with some good regional parks, such as Redwood Regional Park. Agree about Redwood Regional Park. The wife and I just moved from the Oakland Hills to Sonoma a few months ago. We lived just blocks away from Redwood Regional Park. You may already know, but don't neglect the string of parks along that ridge (Wildcat Canyon, Tilden, Sibley, Huckleberry, Chabot). Incredible area.

It's been quite a while since I have been in that Redwood Park area. But I still remember it fairly well. So close to the cities, but so nice in the park. Seems so close to here, but in the traffic and such to get there from here. . . . . . -Don- SSF, CA

I'm in Santa Cruz if you want info on hiking around here... I used to hike a lot in the FOREST OF NISENE MARKS STATE PARK near Aptos. No doubt you have been there a few dozen times. -Don- Reno, NV
