Do you use a ND filter to get this done during the day?

I don’t think I used one for these shots, but I do carry a 3-stop ND filter. I usually do my waterfall/stream photography on cloudy days, or early morning or late afternoon, when it’s shady. I find it almost impossible to take such photos in high contrast situations, such as when the water has sunny highlights.
