My wife used one for years until I got her a pack that was very bladder friendly. I put a rubber grommet in a gatorade cap. It was less than a quarter. The bottle went in a side pocket. The bottle stayed in the pocket. I never liked bladders until I discovered after some use that the water stays cooler in the heat and warmer in the cold via the insulation in the pack stuffed around it. I prefer to drink out of the bottle directly, so I've used ULA style shoulder strap holders made out of elastic cord. A straw rig is great if you want to have water with flavor or electrolytes that you wouldn't put in a bladder.

I like the idea of also using that water bottle w/straw in my hammock or tent, because I always need a few sips of water during the night.

Are you telling me you don't sleep with a catheter??!!! Hammock advantage: POTS, move the next day. Is that an acronym, or something you boil water in for your morning coffee after the nighttime usage?
