USFS roads and northeastern snow.
For a 4Runner trd pro.
The list is down to Nitto Ridge Grapplers and BF Goodrich KO2. It came with Nitto tires (Terra Grappler) and I’ve mostly been pleased, I’ve gotten 60k miles out of them but I’m looking for better moderate snow performance. Though since I visit parks like Sequioa Kings Canyon I’ve got chains for when it’s really nasty.
Any experience with either of these?

I have no experience with either tire, but I can authoritatively assert that okra is still a vile, invasive species transported here by the flying spaghetti monsters in partnership with drop bears as part of their plan to harvest us as a farm raised food source.
Yes, we are a alien GMO crop.

reuben, there is no call for you to attack my personal deity in a thread about automotive treads. We Pastafarians believe in the diversity and legitimacy of all galactic food, no matter how slimy, providing no sentient beings are adversely affected beyond their taste buds and possible gag reflex. Ramen.

Came here for what I thought was a cleverly titled shoe thread. But instead, I found the light and the way. Also: okrastrut.com/

You got 60,000 miles out of a set of tires??? Yup. As if this evening: 59,027. And there’s still legal tread depth (4-5/32).

After wearing out the crummy stock Goodrich Rugged Trail tires on my XTerra, I've had good performance with Michelin LTX A/T and Toyo Open Country A/T tires. Some friends use Goodrich KO2 and those are great tires. I really liked the Michelins - they don't look burley but never had a problem off road, and were civilized on the highway. Lasted 3 years.
I rarely see snow so can't help you there.
I was driving a rough forest road with a new set of Toyos thinking it was worth the extra $$ for heavy duty tires. The new 4 Runner travelling with me on stock tires got a flat. That's my anecdotal experience with tires on a 4 Runner.

Look up the reviews and ratings on Tire Rack. I found them to be helpful and accurate when buying tires in the past.

My favorite tires I had on my old Toyota were Michelin LTX M/S They don't look at all like an aggressive tire so they definitely wont look fancy, but they are so quiet on the road, and i was blown away by how well they shed sticky snow from the tread. They also didnt kill gas mileage and had really good wear. I wanna say i got 70k miles out of them.

I live in farm country and mostly travel on interstate highways and two lane state roads and Hardly ever in a city. Hadn’t realized that benefit. Granted I was aware they sell Kevlar “city” bike tires...

Consumer Reports rates them about the highest of any M&S tire out there. Personally, I wouldn't want a more aggressive tread pattern... most driving is done on pavement.

The reviews for the Michelin Defender LTX M/S look good. Gah, more choices. Yeah, mostly on road for me as well: but I’m skittish of getting tire failures, stuck, out in the boonies.
Thanks! Michelin’s hadn’t even been on my radar though I ran some of those forever on my MG/BGT and loved them. I somehow only associated the brand with performance road tires, which, I suppose, these are!
