Any of our locals have any insight on stream flows in Aravaipa Canyon? The USGS gauge shows very low flow of 6 CFS when it typically flows around 15-20. It’s usually very reliable flow, and the Drought Monitor doesn’t suggest extreme dryness in SE AZ.

I haven't been keeping up with it. Southern Arizona was wetter than normal last year. Some good rain in December.

DD knows far better than me or anyone else here but I would guess that although it flows perennialy it can vary dramatically over short periods of time. I remember some crossings where it was up to my lower thigh but although I'm tall above the waist I have short legs and for two buddies it was at their knees back in the earlier 80s.

Streamflows are now back to normal levels--right around 18 cfs, which is the median value for the past 60 years (the mean is 37, which tells you something about the floods the canyon can experience).
