M: Back felt good. 5 mile road run. Tu - Fr: The band on my FitBit broke, and I realize just how much I use it to write these summaries. Long story short, I walked the dog 3-4 times, 1.5 miles each time. Sa: Downhill ski. Conditions on groomed trails were super easy (ie - boring), and ungroomed trails were pretty bad ice. So it was a "blah" kinda day. Cut up some fallen trees in the late afternoon. Su: Beautiful day. Spring-like. Yardwork all day, then a 4.5-mile trail run.
I'm not doing burpees because of my back, but I'm doing pushups and crunches instead. One for each point scored in basketball games I watch. About 150 for college games, 200-250 for NBA games.

As quickly as the weight came on in January, it is melting off now. Down another 2 pounds (weekly average)... 10 total (daily) since the beginning of March.
I crushed the trail run on Friday.
M: Bike commute 12 miles Tu: Push-ups / crunches W: Stationary bike, pullups, and curls at the gym Th: Bike commute 19 miles F: 3-mile trail run Sa: Ski part of the day. 3-mile hilly hike w/ kids and dog. Su: Yard work

I'm continuing to hike (with the family) and trail run in uncrowded areas. My runs are coming along very well... setting PRs and such. I'm also carefully monitoring heart rate, sleep score, etc. to verify I'm not over-training.
Down another couple of pounds.

Ditto from last week, except I lost only one pound.

Back to neighborhood hikes...had a five-day stretch dealing with spring snow, plowing, helping get neighbors unstuck, plowing and shoveling...good exercise. I took my youngest lab on my neighboorhood loop. This morning in 4 miles I saw one vehicle and one other hiker.

I upped my workouts, and it is paying off. 275 pushups today. Not bad for a 60-something old man...

Last week, I was down 0.2 pounds. I gained that 0.2 pounds back this past week. :-)
We've been going on daily hikes. I've added some trail runs, and I've been breaking PRs. Long run this past weekend was 9.3 miles.
Since I have my annual physical this week via video conference, I wanted to provide my doctor with some fitness data. Weight and resting pulse were obvious. In addition, every couple of months I use my FitBit app during a neighborhood run to estimate my VO2Max. I did this on Thursday (a day when I was not feeling remotely energetic and the weather wasn't cooperating), and obtained a result of 53... which is the highest since I've been recording (a few years) and places me firmly in the "Excellent" category for men my age.

Weight again remained stable to slightly decreasing, then I gained 4 pounds YESTERDAY! Ugh.
Trail runs are feeling good, and I'm setting PRs without trying. I upped the ante with a difficult trail run on Saturday... 8.5 miles and over 1,200' of elevation gain on muddy/rooty trails. That one beat me up.
I've started adding pushups, crunches, side crunches, and bridges every other day (about 200-300 each per workout). I'll start adding pullups and burpees on other days.

My weight has been all over the place. Last Sunday, it was 187, then went up to 193, and now back to 189 this morning. It doesn't appear that I'm retaining a lot of fluids, as everyday I can see veins in my ankles/feet. Speaking of which, as a result of increased trail running and loss of fat, I've got some disgustingly cool veins in my ankles and calves now.
Trail runs are still progressing; and I'm still doing pushups/crunches a couple times per week. I still need to add pullups and burpees. Earlier this year, I signed up to do a Spartan Super in Pennsylvania in July. WIth the whole COVID lockdown, I totally forgot about it. I never considered it a possibility since there's no way NY would allow such a mass gathering by then. But I never thought that PA might have a different view. So I guess I better step up my training.

I've been keeping up with the running/walking/hiking. I had a couple days off due to a large splinter in my foot (required doctor to remove it), and a strained calf kept me from running for a week and away from hills for 2 weeks.
Now that I'm back at the office, I'm switching out some running/hiking for bike-commuting.
Weight has remained steady.
I just signed up for a Spartan Super in October (Palmerton, PA). Gotta start working on upper body and get serious about losing weight.

I'm just gonna come out and tell it like it is. It's butt ugly out there. The heat and humidity are oppressive. Air temperature 75-90 with dew point 70-75. I can't stand to hike in this cauldron, so I'm riding - at least I get some self-generated breeze. But it's ugly.
On the good news front I've found that using a small foot roller on the part of my back that limits my hiking has been a big help. I just put it under the bad spot until it hurts, and then savor the suck. It hurts, but it seems to help release the muscle or whatever, like a masseuse would do.
Also trying to teach myself a bit of Yin yoga, which is super slow, long poses. Not an active type of yoga at all, but great for stretching. I think that's helping my back as well.
So maybe when hiking/backpacking season rolls around again I'll be able to do it relatively pain free. The little foot roller wouldn't take up much space in my pack, so I'd take it with me and use it every night.

I'm still bike commuting even though the afternoon heat index is often 100+. I've acclimated well, although I'm a puddle at the end of my evening commute (I take the long hilly way home).
Not as much trail running given the heat, and my recent work/family schedule hasn't afforded me a lot of opportunity either.
Weight has increased but I can definitely tell it's water weight. And my #1 craving right now is sea salt.
