Kickin' off the new year with this thread.
I took the past 1.5 weeks off of work. Too many details/activities to mention during that time, but I averaged 3,000 calories burned per day.
I started trail running again, and this past Sunday I ran PAIN FREE for the first time in months!
My diet was good except for too many cookies, an improvement from past years.
I completed the December burpee challenge (minimum of 50/day, which tended to morph into 100 every other day).
Now to start training specifically for the winter Spartan Race in March.

M: Walk the dog 1.5 miles. 150(?) burpees. Tu: Walk the dog 1.5 miles. 50 burpees. W: 40-minute walk in the woods. 4-mile hilly trail run. Th: Back to work. Night skiing. F: Rest day. Sa: 6-mile hilly trail run. 180 burpees. Su: 2.5-mile trail run w/ the kids. 80 burpees.
Weight remained stable.
I need to find a workout challenge for the month. Current weaknesses are abs and back... so maybe pullups and planks? I'm considering setting a goal of 1,000 miles run/hiked for the year, but I haven't committed to it yet.
And diet. Definitely diet.

M: 2-mile neighborhood run w/ dog. Tu: Nada W: Nada Th: 2-mile neighborhood run w/ dog. F: Nada Sa: 7-mile rugged trail run. Su: 4-mile bushwhack/hike. Walk dog 1.5 miles.
Disappointing. I thought I did more than that.
I slightly tweaked my hamstring/hip. Not enough to bother me, but didn't want to push it either. That said, I still could have done something other than run. I still need to find a workout challenge for the month. No other reason not to have found one other than just being lazy (even to lazy to google a Crossfit challenge).
Diet was mostly good. I ate a bit more than I should have a couple days (lunches with friends, etc.), but at least they were healthy options.
Weight remained stable.

I’d like to become a regular here again... but I won’t. I’m working out daily. Right now, I’m either walking (shooting for 4+ miles, building towards 6-8) or swimming, or both, and biking everywhere I need to go. I was swimming 3x/week (a mile each time) for a while, but dropping back to 2x to concentrate on getting ready to hike. We leave for Patagonia a week from tomorrow.

M: 1.5-mile neighborhood walk w/ dog Tu: 1.5-mile neighborhood walk w/ dog. 100 burpees during Curse of Oak Island (5 for every question the narrator utters). W: 1.5-mile neighborhood walk w/ dog. 30 pullups. Th: Weather sucked. 20 pullups. F: Weather sucked. Don't want to tire my legs before this weekend's runs, and can't put my arms over my head... so nada. Actually, I went over to my workout partner's house and drank whiskey and beer. Sa: 5.5-mile hilly trail run in the snow (4" of new on a semi-solid base). Windchill around 0-10*F. Su: Downhill ski. 4-mile hilly trail run in the snow (6-12").
Mid-week, my weight spiked 5 pounds. By yesterday, 4 had come off.
I thought I'd do pullups as a monthly challenge... "day of the month" x 2. Based on my history, I thought that would be in the "challenging but do-able" zone. The 30 on the 15th were tough. I got 20 on the 16th before I fell asleep on the couch. On Friday, I could barely move my shoulders. Challenge failed.
My calves are soooo sore after running nearly 10 miles in snow over the weekend.
The dog is pissed at me. We were doing a great job of walking her every day, but the weather on Thursday - Saturday was horrible... vicious windchill. I could have put a jacket on her (she doesn't have a thick coat of fur), but I was afraid for her feet. Roads were wet, and temps were well below freezing. I thought my weekend runs would be too much for her. But she'll be happy today... a foot of snow and the kids are home. She'll be tired tonight.

M: Daughter's birthday party (#1). 20 pullups. Tu: 1.5-mile neighborhood walk w/ dog W: Downhill ski. 100 burpees during Curse of Oak Island. Th: Daughter's birthday party (#2). 1.5-mile neighborhood walk w/ dog. Approx 150 burpees during SU basketball game. F: 1.5-mile neighborhood walk w/ dog. Sa: Weather sucked (35F and rain). 1.5-mile neighborhood walk w/ dog. Su: Downhill ski. 4-mile bushwhack/hike.

M: Run 2.2 miles up a 700' hill, then 2.2 down. Light drizzle below, blowing snow on top. I felt good... only in anaerobic zone for 4 minutes. Tu: 141 burpees during SU/Clemson game. W: Walk dog 1.5 miles. Weights (shoulders/arms). Th: Walk dog 1.5 miles. F: Walk dog 1.5 miles. Sa: Downhill ski 6 hours. Walk dog 1.5 miles. 185 burpees during SU/Duke game. Su: 5-mile hilly trail run. 190 burpees during Super Bowl.

I'm 63 years old and try to exercise 6 days a week. I backpack most days, even at -20 to -30F degrees...no wind and its a dry cold in interior Alaska. Typically I hike with a 50lb pack and gradually lengthen the distance a little bit month after month. I do that 3-4 days a week, hiking with no pack at twice that distance at least twice a week. If it is above 0F degrees, I also cross-country ski and skijor.
No gym for me...I enjoy outside too much. I also log for firewood and that is lot of heavy lifting.
In the summer I try to backpack twice a week in the local mountains. At home, if the mosquitoes get bad, I tend to bike my neighborhood hills.

M: Sore from the weekend's burpees, but I ran 4 miles on neighborhood roads. Tu: Walk dog 1.5 miles. 180 burpees. W: Walk dog 1.5 miles. Weights (shoulders/arms). Th: Run 2.5 miles. Walk dog 1.5 miles. F: Shovel 12" of snow. Sa: Snowshoe bushwhack 3.5 miles across rolling hills cut by steep-sided gullies. We were pushing good, yet still only mustered a 40/mile pace. Su: Downhill ski 6 hours... half on tough runs. Walk dog 1.5 miles.
Diet remained good... oatmeal, soup/crackers, normal dinner (typically chicken, veggie, starch)... and I still didn't drop a single pound.
To prep for the upcoming Spartan Race, I've started doing pullups regularly (I tried before but I was always too sore to do daily). Last week started at 20/day, and ended at 30/day. Yesterday I did 40. Adding grip exercise with a squeeze ring.
I was going to also add abs, but my gut was off, and I didn't want to push it.
Lots of sickness going around. I've had a touch of a couple of things the past 3 weeks, but nothing that prevented me from exercising (other than the abs).

M: Walk dog 1.5 miles. Tu: Walk dog 1.5 miles. ~180 burpees. W: 3.6 mile hilly trail run in deep snow. Ouch. Th: Walk dog 1.5 miles. ~100 burpees. F: Pullups x50. Upper body weights. Sa: Downhill ski 6 hours... half on tough runs. Walk dog 1.5 miles. Su: 5 mile hilly trail run. Loose granular snow... like running on a beach. Again, ouch. ~180 burpees. Walk dog 1.5 miles.
Diet remained good... typically oatmeal, soup/crackers, fruit snack, normal dinner (except Valentine's Day). And I averaged around 3,000 calories burned per day. So obviously, I gained more weight. Now flirting with 200.
I did pullups regularly. Now up to 30-50/day, depending on residual soreness. I should also note that the pullups are on close-spaced rings, with a full range of motion. I should do a day on a regular pullup bar to see how it translates.

I've been backpacking in the hills leaving my house and staying at a higher elevation loop. Warmer in the hills! My routine has been a 3.6 mile loop with 45 pound pack most days, with a 2Xloop and no pack (7.2 miles) at least twice a week. Also we have 2 woodstoves, so spitting firewood most days. This week will warm up so mixing in backcountry cross country skiing and skjoring.

M: 5-mile neighborhood run. 50 pullups. Tu: Walk dog 1.5 miles. ~150 burpees. W: Walk dog 1.5 miles. ~150 burpees. Th: Go to SU women's basketball game. 100 pullups. F: Downhill ski all day. Sa: Downhill ski all day. Walk dog 1.5 miles. Su: 7 mile hilly run on snowmobile trails. Loose granular snow... like running on a beach. Yardwork. ~150 burpees. 4,600 calories burned.
Diet still good... but still gaining weight.
Threw-out my low back this morning. Looks like I'll have to cancel the Spartan Race. Dammit.

I am still working on "aerobic base" primarily. Still in the -20s F this week. Long hikes now extended to 8 miles twice a week. Short hikes with 45 pound pack one 3.6 mile loop from the house, up Becker Ridge, over Festival, down Isberg, down Fiddle, up Ridgeview and back to the house. Everything is relative..our cold snaps now bottom out at -30F, when 30 years ago it would be -60s...one nice thing about climate warming.

M: Through out my back in the morning. In the evening, I walked 0.75 miles with the assistance of hiking poles, and needed to stop twice. Tu: Walked 0.75 miles... no hiking poles or stops needed. ~250 pushups. W: Walk 1.5 miles at a slow pace. ~120 pushups/crunches. Th: Walk 1.2 miles at a normal pace F: Walk 1.2 miles at a normal pace Sa: Walk dog 1.5 miles. 2-mile neighborhood run. ~170 pushups/crunches. Su: I was going to ski, but my back spasmed in the morning, so I decided not to go. Do housework instead. Walk twice, for a total of 2.7 miles.
