49 yr old male looking to take up hiking/camping for short 1-3 day trips in around the area. Excellent shape prior military and LE looking to get out and take advantage of all that backpacking has to offer. Would love to learn right way to camp and enjoy the outdoors from experienced individual/individuals.

I'm not sure, but possibly a compass course might help? NJ and Eastern Pa are in the same neighborhood, but NW Pa is closer to Cleveland. Maybe you were merely adding in places like Allegheny NF for a possible destination and I am all wet.

Hiking partner selection is another vital things to do before hiking as a beginners. Many beginners choose trekking over hiking. That's not right.First know the difference between hiking and trekking.

Must be European, where trekking is with a backpack and hiking is more like day hiking. That's all I can figure out.
