First Timers in North GA looking for trail Jul 23, 2019 10:06:54 GMT -8 via mobile

My 8yo daughter and I are planning our first backpacking trip this weekend. She’s excited about it. We’re experienced car campers. I don’t know how well this is going to go so I’d like to find a trail with good camping about a mile in. My thinking is, if my daughter (or I!)get spooked, we could head back to the car with flashlights and go home.

Anybody know of a suitable trail within an hour or so of north Atlanta?

So far, I’m considering the Dawson Forest WMA City of Atlanta Tract.

	Singing in the shower is all fun and games until you get shampoo in your mouth. Then it just becomes a soap opera. I know the voices aren't real, but, man, they come up with some great ideas.

I dropped by REI today. One of the folks there suggested Raven Cliff Falls. Looks great. That’s the plan for now.
