We're experiencing a really warm December here in the Northeast. You guys out West are getting pounded, and we haven't seen a single friggin' snowflake. I just read a Weather Channel article which had the following quote:
"there is now increasing doubt that a sustained cold pattern will ever set up across the Northeast this winter, based on the latest forecast guidance."
Just terrible! I love winter, I was really looking forward to some skiing and camping in the snow.
Can we all just try our best to move that Jet Stream a bit, so we can have some favorable weather in January and February at least?

Amen. I started a now long running thread on another board called "The Fall that wasn't and the Winter that isn't". I hate Maryland's hot, humid weather from late March through October. I look forward to a break. I'm not getting that break with today being a rare exception.

46* here in Tampa this morning when I awoke. High supposed to be in the 60s today. Midweek, the normal weather returns.

I'm one of those freaks who loves winter in Syracuse, so imagine how I feel. So far this year, the official tally (at the airport) is 0.8", which I believe is about 0.7" more that what I've received at my house. Our normal to-date is 30". Ten-day forecast doesn't show a single flake of snow.
Made it through early bow, gun, and late bow hunting seasons without any snow on the ground. The leaves are still crispy and the weeds still standing. The deer behavior is all screwed up, and the "harvest" is way down this year. A co-worker's friend is a deer processor. He normally gets around 50 deer delivered on opening day. This year... 2.
And those season ski passes aren't looking like a good investment right now.

Agh. I just put my alpine and nordic skies into storage. Maybe I'll pull them back out at the end of January, but right now there's no snow in sight and my seasons pass is tucked away in my desk drawer. Such a lame winter.

We got just shy of 3 feet over the past week or so (with a partial melt in the middle). Very localized though. Just 5 miles south they only totaled about one foot. So is the nature of lake effect. How's everyone else's snowpack?

I've seen nada. Might be an inch on the ground in the morning. (***checks map***) So...it's normal.

4-5 inches fell in my area (west central CT). Hardly enough to get out the shovels. Much more along the coast, 12 to 16 inches. Temps forecast to be in the 40's to 50 next Sunday, so it won't hang around.

We got nothing out of Jonas (as forecast). It did, however, provide ample cloud cover while we were skiing. The abrupt edge of the clouds was literally 5 miles to our north. The horror!

Well, I think I found it. Plenty of snow at higher elevations in the Daks. I'll post some pics soon.

81 degrees on Tuesday, 77 yesterday, and 55 degrees now (10:30 am). The turkeys are gobbling and strutting their stuff in my back yard. Last night I heard spring peepers. Spring has sprung and we turn the clocks ahead on Sunday Morning.
