Precisely why they are in my diet.I find nutrient dense foods like those I mentioned more satisfying than empty calories like cookies, cake and such. But, sugary foods are so ingrained in our culture through marketing etc. and can be a tough habit to kick, so good luck...

Best I've been able to do so far is make dessert no longer a daily thing (okay, except during the Xmas holidays ), and to make the goodies a great deal less sweet. Since I bake my own, they were always less sweet than what you buy--store-bought sweets gag me, they are so sweet. And more and more I am able to pass up desserts that I know won't be that good. "Just say no" may have one decent application Now to figure out what to do and eat while I heal this %#$^ sprained ankle. Swam yesterday, but can't swim every day. I suppose I could, but it's a PITA. Hopefully will soon be good enough to bike, if not to run and hike.

My main vice is energy drinks. But,I try to limit them to when I am exercising and just add small amounts to tea.Works when I am weight training plus cycling 150-200 miles/week to get me through a tough workout then out the door on the bike but when I strained my knee this spring I had to make some tough choices because my diet was no longer working for my reduced activity level.
Like sitting in chairs I don't think the human body is designed to run on pavement. When I lived in the mtns., each evening I would jog on hilly dirt roads but since moving to Fl I have discontinued jogging as there is just too much pavement.I mostly walk on the sidewalks but do practice my top end sprinting when crossing roads but I think that is just my survival instinct kicking in.

I used be a terrible Mt. Dew guy until my wife gave me an AdvoCare Spark. Not the spark you buy in the store.
I do some limited jogging/trotting but it is on local recreational trails. Outside of turning an ankle it is far less stressful on the legs from my point of view.
