Just wanted to say thanks for the well written report. I read all of the chapters and enjoyed them thoroughly.

Enjoyed reading your JMT trip report and am glad that you took the time and effort to share it. Although we had the unrelenting drought in CA, we did have some big storms in May, then quite steady after June 29 (was camping up at 9700'...tremendous thunderstorms the next couple days.) And Tioga Pass closed July 8 due to snow. I'd take the rain filled July over the smoke filled August that we had in 2015. IMHO the best shakes are buttermilk shakes at Mono Cone in Lee Vining. They have malts too.

And Tioga Pass closed July 8 due to snow I had forgotten about the snow. I don't remember which day it was or where I was on the JMT but one day we did see fresh snow in the high peaks and we met some backpackers who told us about running into falling snow. I enjoyed sharing my tale. I am planning on doing the AZT starting in March and will start a new tale when I get back. I plan to take a few notes on my AZT hike, but its a lot longer trail.
